About

I am passionate about education.

I’m running for school board because I see great potential for Piedmont Unified to provide our students with an extraordinary public education and make it a great place to work.

I have served on the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and the Middle School Site Council. As co-president of ALPS (Advancing Learning for Piedmont Students) since 2020, I’ve promoted initiatives to ignite student curiosity and nurture individual growth. I have also directly tutored many PUSD students in math and science. Throughout these experiences, I continue to see the amazing potential in Piedmont students and the outsized impact that the quality of their education can have in helping them to realize it.

As a member of the Board of Education, I will work tirelessly to ensure your student receives a solid education in a diverse, open, and welcoming environment.

I’m a Bay Area native and attended Harvard, where I majored in Physics. My earlier career has included work in computer animation technology, technical training, and university teaching. I have reviewed curricular proposals to evaluate their academic effectiveness. With two children in Piedmont, at PMS and Wildwood, I’ve volunteered in various roles, including Site Council, the Superintendent’s Advisory Council, and classroom parent, which have informed my understanding of PUSD's strengths and needs.

My Priorities:

A great education for all in a district where every kid belongs

We’ve made great progress in our district – it is welcoming, growing more diverse, and has a strong focus on academics and extracurricular activities like athletics, the arts, Makers, and so much more. Ninety-four percent of Piedmont High graduates go to college after graduation, even as admissions become more competitive each year. Our district’s administration, staff, and faculty are all top-notch. Yet, on all fronts we can do more for our kids and our district employees.

A great education is the result of a suitable and well-designed curriculum, delivered via excellent instruction. Both depend on Piedmont Unified being a great place to work, such that we can attract, retain, and grow our high-performing staff and administration.

I support cost-effective board and school policies which will directly result in better academic outcomes and emotionally and physically healthy kids, while improving teacher and staff satisfaction. Because we have resource constraints, we must be clear on our priorities and act accordingly.

Innovating to provide more academic depth and personalized learning

Every Piedmont student is unique – each has different interests, gifts, and goals, which often change as they grow. Consequently, I believe our district must meet each student where they are, and challenge them appropriately, as much and as soon as they’re ready.

I support innovation in teaching and curriculum, but ultimately what matters is the quality of outcomes for our students.

We have a great strategic plan, and promising metrics and actions to support the goals detailed in our latest three-year LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) mandated by the state. I will work to ensure that what we measure is relevant.

Investing in the success of Piedmont’s students

As a STEM tutor, member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, the Middle School Site Council, former co-president of Advancing Learning for Piedmont Students (ALPS), and adviser to the High School Math Club, I know firsthand what’s working well for Piedmont students, and what isn’t. I see it every week and hear it from the kids themselves.

I care about the success of all students at Piedmont Unified, and I’m focused on results. I believe in using data, analysis and logical reasoning to find solutions to hard problems. Let’s build on the great work started by the district. We can work together to make these solutions a reality for our kids!
